Medium: Tool Steel
Assistance: Master Bran Padrig, SCA helped me figure out how to make these and once we had a process down, I completed all 21 crosses.
Quench: No quench required
Temper: Twice, 1 hour each time at 400F in a standard oven
Inspiration: I am not sure what time period the Troll Cross comes from. One source indicated that it was a 19th century construct, but other sources have indicated that it is from an earlier time period in Scandinavia.
The Troll Cross was a talisman to help ward off elves and other fairy creatures. I am not sure if it works since I wore it once while fighting my knight, Sir Morgan Aethelwulf (current Dictator of Atenveldt, errrr….I mean King of Atenveldt), also known as “The Cave Troll”. He was still able to hit me…so I am not sure. Maybe I got a faulty talisman. I have more pictures but, as always, I have to find them.
These were made as King’s Sigils, awarded at the end of King Morgan’s first regin. About have were round steel and half were square stock that was twisted.
