Duke Morgan’s Pel Scroll

Assigned to me by the King of Atenveldt (HRM Marek) back in November/December of 2017, I went through several different thoughts on how I wanted to handle this.  It was probably around January 2018 when I finally settled on an initial design.  I originally wanted the picture on it’s own separate sheet of perg but I was beginning to feel the pressure of the looming Estrella War (the award was presented to Morgan during Grand Court).  HRM Marek suggested war pelicans and I liked the idea…but it still took several weeks of images stewing in my brain before I was able to bring it all together.  The overall body was completed by 20JAN18, the picture was done in it’s entirety Thursday night (22JAN18) with the calligraphy done that Friday night.  I truly felt like a scribe that night as I sat hunched over the scroll, in the freezing cold with only the light of a few candles to light my way and the din of many a party in the background.

Level:  Kingdom of Atenveldt

Paint:  Winsor & Newton Gouache (Permanent White, Primary Yellow, Primary Blue, Lamp Black, Permanent White)
