Level: Kingdom, awarded during Morgan & Elizabeth’s fourth reign. Awarded on 23OCT21.
Paint: Windsor & Newton Gouache (Lamp Black, Primary Blue and Primary Red) and Turner Acrylic White Titanium Gouache (I wanted a more solid, brilliant color).
Illumination: Imitation gold raised with Instacoll. Japanese Peral Gold gouache for the flat areas.
Paper: Pergamenata – natural, 250lb. Green ink wash used was a Copper-Vinegar based. I think this may be one of my last scrolls using Perg. I really do not like how the ink, gouache and gold sit on this paper so I switching over to hot pressed water color paper.
Inspiration and Comments: My latest scroll based off of/inspired by “Suffrage’s of the Saints, Saint Francis Receives the Stigmata”, Folio 171r (France, 1405-1408/09). I used the boarder and adapted it for my needs. I do not like to take breaks in the calligraphy (it messes up my cadence) and in order to complete the scroll I would have to include the recipients name). Once the scroll has been completed and awarded I will add an updated photo. This time around I am going to go to a large bed scanner so I can get a better picture instead something I generated via my cell phone.
One note of interest: The reverse image in on the back on this scroll since I did not want to draw on the inked side and have eraser marks all over the place. So, essentially I had to create this scroll twice.
